Case Functions in AMPScript: A Tutorial

Salesforce Marketing Cloud’s AMPScript provides string case methods that let marketers structure and transform text strings in any manner they desire, including correct case, lowercase and uppercase letters.

Lowercase takes an input string and converts all characters, including capital letters, to lowercase.

Thus, “HELLO WORLD” would appear as “hello world.” Meanwhile, uppercase takes that string and converts it all to uppercase letters; “hello world” would then become “HELLO WORLD.”

Last but not least, the correct case function raises each word’s initial letter while maintaining lowercase text—for instance, “Hello World!” resulted from transcribing “Hello World!”

Managers of marketing cloud services rely heavily on these features for text data extracted from stored instances records in the marketing cloud, standardizing it across records while assuring accurate inclusion of client names or postal addresses in dynamic content.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud’s Content Builder for Email Creation

By using its Content Creator feature, Salesforce Marketing Cloud users can utilize the Content Builder feature of the Marketing Cloud Dashboard page to draft emails with different themes and styles.

You can begin building your email by clicking “Create” at the top-right corner of this page, selecting from our extensive library of email templates, and clicking “Submit.”

After selecting your desired option, complete and submit the form with recipient details such as name, brief description, preferred language choice and sharing settings for their location addresses.

An email message with blue underlining may be personalized by changing its layout settings, padding or content to achieve desired effects.

First and foremost, it’s essential that everything works perfectly when sending an email. Before hitting “send,” be sure the subject line and preview screen match up exactly.

Copying and pasting previous emails is an invaluable way to familiarise yourself with Marketing Cloud’s features and capabilities.

When creating emails, content blocks provide all the necessary building blocks.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud allows us to automate file import/transfer processes by designating specific places for files to reside.

Users may provide an internal or external FTP server address in Marketing Cloud FTP through its file location function.

The process of adding new file locations in Salesforce Marketing Cloud

Navigating the Data Management category will bring up its setup screen.

Locating “File Locations” within Data Management will reveal another screen with options to label your files with descriptive terms like “data warehouse.”

Once this step has been taken, label each location where your files exist with their appropriate descriptive term, such as “data warehouse”.

Choose where the file should reside by using external FTP sites or SFT hosts as sources for storage locations.

Use relative paths without leading slashes when saving folder paths as relative paths and file locations.

When creating a file transfer or import activity, wait for the next page to load before selecting either source or target files as source or target locations, respectively.

Create an SFTP SSH key

To set up an SFTP account within Salesforce Marketing Cloud, navigate to its setup page, locate Data Management Data Protection>, and click here to create one.

One of the critical steps when setting up an account is creating an SSH key. Once uploaded files are uploaded successfully, select “SSH” to generate one and set up an automatic import program:

Automated file imports streamline data transfers into Marketing Cloud by eliminating tedious manual transfers of files.

Regular segmentation operations, offer journeys, and marketing sets often rely on imports to supply fresh company data such as customers, items and purchases.

Start the automatic file import process in Excel by filling in all fields, exporting them as CSV, and uploading them to the Marketing Cloud FTP folder.

When that’s complete, open Automation Studio, create an activity and specify its source according to a file location.

On the Destination Page, you can discover the pattern and extension of a target data file’s name.

On the Mapping Page, there are various importation choices, such as overriding activity mapping according to order and dragging column headings into relevant data extension fields.

Import activities should include automation and data that will remain active after they’ve been created.

File import activities should be preserved and activated as soon as they occur.

Finally, enable your data warehouse and upload the CSV file.

Follow these steps to activate Salesforce Marketing Cloud’s Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

select Multi-Factor Authentication by clicking your username in the upper right corner and accessing your account security settings.

Navigating to the “Multi-Factor Authentication” section and editing any MFA settings desired will allow for proper MFA implementation.

Once again, click “Edit”, select your multi-factor authentication solution of choice, and make it mandatory. Upon returning to the user page, sign up with Google Authenticator, as time-based one-time passwords are generated automatically!

Launch Google Authenticator software on your mobile device, locate “Scan a QR code”, and click “Register.”

From within the Google Authenticator app, copy the six-digit code into the Salesforce Marketing Cloud screen to complete the registration process.

Once the code has been scanned, click “Connect” on your screen to complete registration with Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
